Hatspanyan appeals decision on denial
French-Armenian freedom fighter Sargis Hatspanyan today appealed the Passport and Visa Department's decision on not granting him a residency status in Armenia at the Administrative Court.
Hatspanyan told "A1+" that the Department's lawyers had told Judge Robert Sargsyan that the corroboration of the National Security Service had served as grounds for not granting him the residency status. The Department had not given the court corroboration, saying it was confidential.
Sargis Hatspanyan said the National Security Service had told the Human Rights Defender that Hatspanyan's speech at the banned rally in 2008 and disturbance of social order had served as grounds for the denial of his appeal for a residency status. "But the court says it is confidential and can't provide the grounds for the denial," Hatspanyan says, surprised.
The court today took a decision and postponed the trial until the Department of Passports and Visas would present the required document.
The next trial is set for December 5.
We remind that Sargis Hatspanyan has been deprived of a residency status in Armenia since 2008.
