The results of the Norht-South Road construction competition will be summed up in two weeks. This is what Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan announced during a joint press conference with his Georgian counterpart in Batumi.

According to Sargsyan, for the first time, Armenia will have a state-of-the-art road with standards that will allow cars to cross the Armenian-Georgian border at a more rapid pace.

"This large-scale project will give the citizens of our countries the opportunity to reach Batumi through better roads. It will reduce time, the road will be more suitable and it will promote the flow of tourists to Batumi," he said.

Georgian Prime Minister Nika Gilauri responded to the question of the frequency of Yerevan-Batumi flights and the reduction of their prices and said: "We have reached an agreement on an open sky, meaning that all companies can hold flights."

The Georgian PM was also asked about the modernization of Armenian-Georgian passing points.

"The main program is to make the Armenian and Georgian passing points work in a common way. We have already implemented this program on the Georgian-Turkish border and have become convinced that it is very effective. It reduces the time that people spend crossing the border. We would like to implement the same program on the Armenian-Georgian border and we hope that it will be as soon as possible," Nika Gilauri said.
