Armenian Virtual Library turns into reality
The presentation of the Armenian Virtual Science Library was held at the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia today. The library was presented with support from RA Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan.
According to President of the State Science Committee Samvel Harutyunyan, the Virtual Library will provide Armenian scientists with the opportunity to not only get acquainted with world scientific thought, but also present their works to the international community.
Harutyunyan underlined that 70-80% of world scientific literature will be available to Armenian scientists by 2015.
In his speech at the presentation, U.S. Ambassador to Armenia John Heffern attached importance to science and technologies and mentioned that it is envisaged to develop cooperation between the RA Ministry of Education and Science and the National Academy of Sciences in this direction.
The Armenian Virtual Science Library program includes more than 3 million scientific articles and more than 8,000 magazines of the UN Research4Life project.
The program is supported by the U.S. Civil Research and Development Foundation, the RA Ministry of Education and Science, the RA State Science Committee, the Basic Science Library of the National Academy of Sciences and the U.S. Department of State.
