A group of indigenous Australians returned the Prime Minister's shoe that he had lost while trying to escape the indigenous residents protesting against racism on January 26, reports Euronews.

They transferred Prime Minister Julia Hillard's shoe to one of the government's law-enforcement authorities. The indigenous resident who personally transmitted the shoe had said the following before handing the shoe:

"On behalf of the independent indigenous people, I, a representative of the embassy of indigenous residents, as a goodwill ambassador, am returning the shoe that was lost during the disturbance caused by your security officials."

On 26 January, Prime Minister of Australia Julia Hillard and the leader of the Australian opposition were having lunch at a restaurant on the occasion of Australia's National Day.

The indigenous residents had surrounded the restaurant and were knocking on the windows. Security officials were compelled to take the Prime Minister out of the restaurant from the back entrance where the Prime Minister lost his shoe.
