Snow removal operations are not carried out in Yerevan
All roads connecting Yerevan with its suburbs have been impassable since early morning. Urban public transports could hardly drive on snow-covered roads. Residents of Avan and Nor Nork districts had great difficulty to get to work or school since they were ‘trapped' in traffic jams. The heavy snowfall also created inconveniences for rural residents living near the capital who were unable to get to Yerevan.
A1+'s camera crew today did not notice any snow-removal technique in Yerevan streets. Nor were the employees of the Yerevan Municipality engaged in snow clearing operations. Only the owners of stores and catering services were removing the snow from the pavements and entrance of the buildings. All other streets and pavements are neglected, with the thick layer of snow on the sidewalks becoming a real scourge for passers-by.
In the meantime, the municipality insists they have been scattering salt and sand in the capital streets and cleaning the snow.
