Sydney going underwater
The growing flood in Australia is approaching Sydney.
The city is located in the New South Wales state of Australia. Seventy-five percent of the state is the equivalent to France in terms of size and has already gone underwater. The only console is the fact that that Australian state is densely populated like France.
The nearly 40-hour rainfall has flooded the Uaragamba Dam in New South Wales, leaving the water dam open, and drinking water is filling into the Pacific Ocean, reports ITAR-TASS.
More than 4,000 residents have abandoned their homes in the last couple of days, and rescuers are currently helping another 1,000 residents evacuate the north-western regions of the Australian megapolis.
Head of the Emergency Situations Service of New South Wales Murray Kir has addressed the residents of the state with the request to be alert because the weather may set the record of the past 120 years in a matter of days.
The rescuers advise people to keep their personal documents, wool scarves, medicine and personal accessories with them. In addition, they should follow up on the news on the radio to take precaution
Meteorologists say rain will gradually end in Sydney and Monday will likely be sunny.
