Today marks the beginning of the month-long celebration of women in Armenia, and Yerevan is also celebrating March 8th as International Women's Day as a state holiday.

However, the fact is that not all women of Armenia have the opportunity to enjoy the holiday.

"We keep saying it is a holiday, but I am rushing to work so that I can take care of my family," Gayane told "A1+" as she was rushing to work.

The participants of the survey mainly complained about their social situation and mentioned that this day didn't really have a positive impact on their lives.

Another citizen of Yerevan said her two grandchildren made her happy all year long and that they had prepared a surprise for her today. "I woke up this morning and saw violets in my bedroom," the 67-year old grandmother said happily.

Anahit said she was expecting a child and that that day would be the happiest day of her life. She wants her child to be happy and dreams of seeing her child live in a peaceful and safe country.

Vachagan Sargsyan said she had purchased flowers and perfume for her wife, and his friend, Artur had said he had decided to prepare dinner for his wife.

The men and women participating in the survey said the most important thing for them was not showing care and attention on March 8th, but all year long.

Arpine, 25, took advantage of the occasion and told all men that "the kitchen wasn't the only place for women and that men should let women work, if they have the desire."

"Women can also hold high offices and achieve more success than men," the young woman noted.
