Negotiating to enter big market
Armenia will have an opportunity for free trade in the large market with 30-40,000 dollars per capita. This is what Deputy of the RA National Assembly Karen Tchshmarityan said during a press conference today.
Tchshmarityan also informed that Armenia has started negotiations with the European Union over the signing of the Deep and Comprehensive Trade Agreement.
The deputy said this would help raise the level of quality of services of Armenia's economy, for which investments are necessary.
Tchshmarityan assures that if the agreement was implemented, Armenia will have an economy hinged on knowledge, which will lead to the improvement of the spheres of education and science.
The deputy mentioned that many Armenians misunderstand EU integration.
"Cooperation with the European Union can form a new platform for opportunities for Armenia. Integration into the world economy will open a new door for the development of Armenia's foreign economic policy in various directions," said Karen Tchshmarityan.
He mentioned that Armenia could only dream of such discussions in 2003 or 2004, but the active efforts of the past years have helped turn that dream into a reality.
The deputy informed that South Korea was the last country that signed a free trade agreement with the EU and mentioned that the negotiations with Armenia would last two to three years.
