Tamamyan accepts the charge
The court today proceeded with the trial of former Chief of the General Department of Criminal Investigation of the RA Police Hovhannes Tamamyan.
During the trial, a culprit in the case, senior prosecutor of the RA Prosecutor General's Office Harutyun Harutyunyan read the articles under which Hovhannes Tumanyan was charged, including Article 308 (1) of the RA Criminal Code (misuse of obligations, using position contrary to interests of service based on personal interests that has led to heavy consequences).
Correspondent of the Operative Department of the Arabkir police division Armen Poghosyan and senior investigator of the Department for Specially Important Cases of the Chief Investigative Department of the RA Police Vahan Khanzadyan are also culprits.
Judge of the court of general jurisdiction of Kentron and Nork-Marash districts Arshak Vardanyan declared that Armen Poghosyan and Vahagn Khanzadyan had accepted the charge, had realized the size of the crime and had asked the court to speed up the trial through their lawyers' petition.
After hearing the final part of prosecutor Harutyun Harutyunyan's accusatory speech, the judge upheld the petition.
Arshak Vardanyan asked Hovhannes Tamamyan whether he agreed with the petition on accelerating the trial or not. After asking for a ten-minute break and contemplating the issue, Hovhannes Tamamyan announced that he accepted his charge and was in favor of the accelerated trial.
Two eyewitnesses also had to be interrogated, but after Tamamyan accepted the charge, the judge said it was needless to interrogate the two.
The trial ended, and the trial entered the stage of discussions. The trial was postponed to March 20.
