The World Wilderness Foundation (WWF) Armenia, the RA Ministry of Nature Protection and Yerevan Municipality are organizing another "Earth Hour" global action in Armenia once again.

The first "Earth Hour" was launched in 2007 in Sydney, Australia where 2 million people switched off their lights. The main goal was to combine everyone's efforts in the fight against climate change. This action gained popularity and there are currently more than 1 billion participants.

Last year, more than 5,200 cities of 135 countries joined the "Earth Hour" action, and among them were 89 capitals. Yerevan, as well as Vanadzor and Kapan cities will also be joining the action this year.

"Earth Hour" will be held on 31 March 2010 from 20:30 to 21:30 (local time). The external lighting at squares and in buildings, as well as street lighting will be switched off for an hour in Yerevan.
