"Cassation Court is legal pointlessness"
Armenia is facing constitutional crisis, say human rights activists.
"The decisions taken by the Constitutional Court in individual disputes are not executed in Armenia," said human rights activist Artak Zeynalyan.
The Court of Cassation frequently refuses to reconsider its decisions that have been found anti- constitutional, saying its decisions are ‘irreversible.'
Lawyer Karen Mejlumyan calls the Cassation Court "a court of legal pointlessness."
"In fact, our citizens are deprived of the right to constitutional justice," added Mr Zeynalyan.
Since 2006, the CC has upheld the claims of 200 citizens, finding the decisions of the Cassation Court as anti-constructional. Nevertheless, none of them has been processed to this date: only once did the Cassation Court review its decision thanks to the obstinacy of the claimant.
Among notorious cases, Mr Zeynalyan pointed out the ruling against A1+ TV Company when the Cassation Court took an anti-constitutional decision against the embattled company
Human rights activists have decided to publicize all violations in order to prevent the arbitrariness of the court.
