Yerevan to receive World Book Capital title Sunday
The sixth All-Armenian Forum of Writers kicks off in Armenia on April 20. The event will bring together writers from Armenia and Diaspora.
This year the forum coincides with the launch of two other important events. In 2012, Armenia marks the 500th anniversary of typography, besides, Yerevan was named World Book Capital 2012 at the conclusion of the Selection Committee meeting, which was held on 2 July 2010 at UNESCO's Paris headquarters.
Within the framework of the festive events, on April 22 the official ceremony of assuming World Book Capital title from UNESCO will take place near Matenadaran, the Institute of Ancient Manuscripts, in Yerevan.
The forum hosts writers from 20 countries, including the USA, Syria, Turkey, Lebanon, Iran, Artsakh, Iran and Russia. On the sidelines of the forum, international conferences will be held in Matenadaran and Writers Union of Armenia.
According to Levon Ananyan, Head of the Writers Union of Armenia, during the forum it is planned to present membership certificates to about 60 Diaspora representatives.
