Heritage party MPs and citizens, concerned about the fate of Yerevan's Mashtots Park, are uncertain as to whether the Administrative Court will take a fair decision on the issue of the park.

The Court today held a preliminary hearing into the lawsuit filed by the Heritage party against the illegal construction of trade kiosks at the public park. The party is disputing the decision by the Yerevan municipality to allow the owners of kiosks that had been dismantled from the Abovyan Street sidewalk to install their property in Mashtots Park.

Judge Karen Avetisyan prohibited A1+ from filming the sitting.

During the preliminary hearing, the court decided to include Kentron Landscaping CJSC as a third party. The plaintiff expressed dissatisfaction over the court's stance on environmental issues.
The next sitting is set for May 10.

Mashtots Park has seen numerous standoffs between environmentalists and police since early February, when the Municipality allowed the construction of kiosks at the park. On several occasions, protesters managed to break through police cordons and enter construction sites to stop the construction.
