During today's session, the government reduced taxes for small businessmen with a decision that refers to businessmen paying patent fees for catering facilities that are up to 50 square meters.

According to the draft of amendments presented in the law "On Patent Fees", small businessmen can pay patent fees in monthly installments, as well as quarterly and six-month installments and even up to a year.

"If a businessman wants to pay the patent fee in quarterly installments, he will pay less. If he wants to pay in six months, he will pay less. The longer the period, the less they will pay," said Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan.

At the same time, the Prime Minister says by giving small and medium businesses privileges the government is not treating large catering facilities fairly. According to the Prime Minister, large catering facilities shouldn't pay the patent fee.

"We have large catering facilities in Yerevan and in areas near Yerevan, and I think it wouldn't be right for those facilities to pay a patent fee and the same amount of taxes as do small and medium businesses."

Tigran Sargsyan assigned the Minister of Finance to make proposals regarding this issue. During today's session, the government also established the timeframe for patent fee payments. Instead of April 1, businessmen can make payments before June 1.
