“We saw what we hadn’t seen”
Traffic on the streets of Yerevan is planned. At least this is what Head of Achilles Drivers Rights Protection NGO Eduard Hovhannisyan says.
"There is "asphalt-o-mania" in all parts of the city. They should asphalt the streets at night. On the one hand, it's raining, and on the other hand, they're asphalting. We hadn't seen anything like this before, and now we did," said Hovhannisyan.
At the same time, Hovhannisyan doesn't exclude that the reason for traffic is the number of cars growing on a daily basis.
Eduard Hovhannisyan doesn't share the view that the reasons for traffic are the speedometers and cameras installed on the streets of Yerevan that make drivers slow down. "Speedometers can never cause traffic."
Citizens complaining about traffic are especially frustrated over the fact that the municipality isn't asphalting the streets at night, but during work hours.
"A1+" tried to find out why the municipality was asphalting the streets at night, but the department representatives didn't respond to phone calls.
