CC rejects Harutyunyan
The Constitutional Court of the Republic of Armenia today left the decision taken by the N 37 Precinct Electoral Commission in force. The decision was appealed by former mayor of Goris Samvel Harutyunyan, who was running in the parliamentary elections at that precinct under the majoritarian ticket.
The plaintiff demanded that the CC recognized the May 11 decision N 31-A of the Precinct Electoral Commission on his election as deputy under the majoritarian ticket as invalid.
According to that decision, the PEC had registered Samvel Harutyunyan's opponent, ex-deputy minister of health Tatul Hakobyan as a deputy candidate. Meanwhile, according to Samvel Harutyunyan's arguments, Tatul Hakobyan has been living and working in the Kingdom of Denmark for the past year, and that served as grounds to reject his registration.
Samvel Harutyunyan filed two petitions to the CC, and both of them were rejected.
On June 8, the CC will hear the appeal filed by Manuel Gasparyan, who was running under the majoritarian ticket at precinct N 3.
