“Appeals Court doesn’t have to change anything”
Adviser to the President of the Court of Appeals Sergey Marabyan today gave a press conference in response to a workers' strike held by lawyers claiming that the Court of Appeals is arbitrary and that the principle by which this court instance accepts or rejects appeals is ambiguous.
"Such an assessment of the lawyers is not convincing, at least for me," said Marabyan.
Marabyan recalled that the Court of Appeals isn't obliged to accept all cases.
"The constitutional amendments made in 2005 established that the Court of Appeals has to be involved with affairs related to rights."
What is the ground for the denial of appeals? "My answer is based on the hypothesis that "if the Court of Appeals doesn't approve a case, it means that the plaintiff hasn't been able to convince the court."
When asked whether the Court of Appeals was ready to revise its activities after the lawyers' worker strike, Marabyan said he didn't know what the court had to change since it was working by the law.
