Suren Zolyan, former rector of Yerevan State Linguistic University (YSLU), views his dismissal as reckoning.

"This is real vengeance as they deprived a person of his right to express an opinion. Everyone has a right to voice their opinion," Suren Zolyan told a news conference on Friday.

Mr. Zolyan today thanked all parties who did not seize the opportunity to link his name with this or that political party. Meanwhile, as YSLU ex-rector says, the authorities did everything to politicize the issue.

Suren Zolyan was relieved of his duties as YSLU rector earlier this year following a dispute with Armen Ashotyan, Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia. Zolyan had earlier received two reprimands by the Minister who blamed him for his failure to dully perform his duties. By another decree of Minister Armen Ashotyan, Gayane Gasparyan has been appointed YSLU rector.

Liana Grigoryan, a legal representative of Suren Zolyan, considers the appointment right from the legal point of view.

"Gayane Gasparyan could not remain acting rector for a long time. But the problem is that some committee members did not have the right to elect a rector," she said.
Suren Zolyan, who is disputing Armen Ashotyan's decree in court, is convinced that he will be able to reinstate justice and return to his post as YSLU rector.
