Facebook users believe Nersik Nazaryan
Users of Facebook social network are actively discussing the press service of the General Investigation Department of the Armenian Police in connection with last month's brutal beating at Yerevan's Harsnakar restaurant complex owned by Republican Party MP Ruben Hayrapetyan.
They are mainly discussing the statement of Arsen Ayvazyan, a high-ranking official of the department, who denied media reports that the main suspects in the case are personal bodyguards of Hayrapetyan.
"All the six suspects are registered as security guards of restaurant. Some of them turn out to have accompanied Hayrapetyan on special occasions," Ayvazyan saidon Tuesday.
Several days ago, Chief of Yerevan Police Nersik Nazaryan, confirmed the allegation that some of Hayrapetyan's bodyguards are among the arrestees.
"The investigation revealed that some of the suspects were Hayrapetyan's bodyguards who were immediately taken under arrest," Nazaryan said in an interview with A1+.
The users of Facebook say in their notes that they trust the Chief of Yerevan Police as a reliable source, besides, some of the arrestees have been identified as Hayrapetyan's bodyguards.
Six men -David Adamyan, David Margaryan, Arthur Babloyan, Arman Baghdasaryan, Arman Khachatryan and Norayr Hayrapetyan, were arrested and charged with assault following the incident.
Three military doctors, who visited the Harsnakar restaurant on June 17, were brutally beaten during a brawl with the security guard. One of them, Vahe Avetyan, died of severe head wounds on June 29 without regaining consciousness. The incident sparked public outrage, with civic activists, opposition members, media represneatives and ordinary citizens demanding to prosecute Hayrapetyan. Hundreds of people have demonstrated outside Harsnakar and government buildings in Yerevan in recent weeks to demand a thorough and objective probe. As a result of mounting public uproar, Hayrapetyan resigned from the National Assembly on July 3.
