Residents of Kozern demand another note
The residents of Kozern quarter-district demand that the government annul the decision that it took in 2003 to recognize their properties as supreme public interest.
The residents held a subsequent protest in front of the presidential residence today.
In 2003, the RA Government recognized the first cul-de-sac at Proshyan Street as a territory of primary state interest.
The territory had to be sold and condominiums were supposed to have been built there.
"The government has taken three decisions for years, but hasn't sold the territory," said President of "Community and Rights" NGO, advocate Samvel Mkrtchyan.
After several demands, the property certificates handed to the residents after privatization state that the homes are located in a territory of supreme public interest.
"There are no more deadlines, the government hasn't sold the territory yet and that note is still stated in our certificates. That is why we can't ask the bank to give adequate evaluations of our properties," said Samvel Mkrtchyan, who also lives in the given territory.
Privatization has led to several issues, including several errors made in the privatization certificates.
"Currently, there are more than 30 such issues, but we're not planning on sending 30 people to the courts," said the advocate. The residents of Kozern quarter-district have their own version of solving the issue. "We propose to replace the current note with another one," said Samvel Mkrtchyan.
