Will Armenian universities break contracts with Hungary?
Higher education institutions in Armenia are not going to break agreements with Hungary as there aren't such contracts signed on a state level, the Ministry of Education and Science told A1+.
However, this does not restrict the rights of universities; they are entitled to sign separate contracts.
Yerevan State University (YSU) and Eötvös Loránd University of Budapest signed a cooperation agreement in 1986, during the Soviet years. Alexander Markarov, Head of the International Cooperation Office at the YSU, says although the contract is still valid, it has not been updated for a long time.
Later we contacted other universities to find that they do not have agreements with Hungary despite the free exchange of students and the possibility of cooperation.
We also learnt that the State Engineering University of Armenia (SEUA), Eurasia International University (EIU), Haybusak University and Yerevan Culture University do not cooperate with Hungary.
