Suicide fighters to establish settlement
20 years ago, the «Artsvik» («Eaglet») detachment of suicide fiighters was formed on September 27 at the call of Vazgen Sargsyan.
"We gathered and formed a 500-strong group of suicide fighters. It means that we still exist, we will fight, and we will win», Chairman of «Artsiv-Mahapart» NGO, Major General Astvatsatur Petrosyan told reporters.
Formed on the eve of a crucial battle, the group of suicide fighters won a brilliant victory that would have an important impact on the further hostilities and Armenia's victory in the Artsakh war.
«The suicide fighters accoplished a great task. If the nation did not have those 500 devotees, we would be doomed to destruction,» Astvatsatur Petrosyan said, recalling Vazgen Sargsyan's words.
On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the group's formation, its members are going to make a trip to Artsakh so as to enjoy once agian the victory in the liberated territories.
«We plan to establish a settlement in Qarvachar and name it «Artsiv Mahapertner». At first we will build 7 apartments, then a church in the liberated area,» Mr. Petrosyan said.
