Hovhannes Zatikyan, Director of the house-museum of Khachatur Abovian, is concerned that the new generation has forgotten the great Armenian writer.

"My greatest anguish is that people do not recognize their genius son, because I do not see the necessary conditions for that," Mr Zatikyan told a press conference.

The director of the house-museum also added that Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan has proposed the museum to publish the translated works of the writer and give them to English schools.

Khachatur Abovian was an Armenian writer and national public figure of the early 19th century who mysteriously vanished in 1848 and was presumed dead. Considered as the father of modern Armenian literature, he is best remembered for his novel Verk Hayastani (Wounds of Armenia).
