Court rejects Yenokyan’s appeal
A Yerevan court today overturned lifer Mher Yenokyan's appeal against the Prosecutor General's Office.
Edik Avetisyan, a judge at the General Jurisdiction Court of Yerevan's Kentron and Nork-Marash districts, read out the decision in the absence of Yenokyan's Attorney Vahagn Manukyan.
Talking to A1+, the lawyer said he had been contacted 15 minutes before the session and asked to be in court at 11.00.
"I simply could not be present at the session," he said.
Mher Yenokyan demands that the Prosecutor General's Office review the new facts disclosed in his case.
Yenokyan studied at Yerevan State Medical University. At the age of 20, he was charged with murdering his classmate and sentenced to death. Later vhe was sentenced to life imprisonment.
