On October 22-24, hundreds of Armenian Americans from Canada welcomed New York Times Best-Selling author Chris Bohjalian in the cities of Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal where he presented his book "The Sandcastle Girls."

The event was organized by the Embassy of Armenia in Canada and the Hay Dat Office in Canada.

The Armenian genocide during World War I is the subject of Chris Bohjalian's 14th novel, "The Sandcastle Girls." This is a sweeping historical love story between Armen Petrosian and Elizabeth Endicott. Inspired by his grandparents' background, the author explores the suffering and atrocities of that time with astounding precision, compassion and grace.
Ottawa hosted the presentation on October 23 in the Chapters bookstore in Rideau Centre.

In his addressing remarks, Armenian Ambassador to Canada Armen Yeganian underlined the importance of recognizing the Armenian Genocide and condemning it as a phenomenon in order to exclude its repetition in the future.
