Ombudsman dispeased with 2013 budget allocation
Armenian Ombudsman Karen Andreasyan is not satisfied with 2013 budget allocations. He says the financial means cover only half of the minimal needs of the Ombudsman's Office therefore he demands at least 11 mln additional funding and expects the support of the parliament on the issue.
"Nothing has changed in our life. What did we ask for and what did we get? Our country has signed the Convention for the Prevention of Torture, assigning the Ombudsman's office to develop mechanisms for prevention," Mr Andreasyan said on Monday.
In 2013, the government envisages 176 mln AMD for the Human Rights Defender's Office, which is AMD 3 mln more than last year's financing.
He also added that the volunteers of the Ombudsman's Office refuse to work for the state for free. Karen Andreasyan said they will continue to use grants in 2013, but will refuse from them in 2014.
