Human rights activist: Authorities want to hide sources (video)
"Press in Armenia is repeatedly subjected to pressure. This one is from the series of these pressures,” human rights activist Vardan Harutyunyan said commenting on the decision of a Yerevan court that forced two media outlets - Hraparak daily and ilur.am website - to reveal the source of their information. “In fact, the authorities want to ‘hide' the source, create a situation where people will be afraid to preset their complaints via media,” says Mr Harutyunyan. Asked whether he is pleased with the work of media representatives, the human rights activist said, “The information field is one of the well-established institutions in Armenia.”
