Ukraine, pro-Russian separatists are ready to sign truce
Ukraine and the pro-Russian separatists have started talks in Minsk to start a ceasefire in eastern Ukraine. Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said he’s ready to order a ceasefire in the east Friday if a peace deal is signed that day at talks in Minsk, Belarus. The rebels also said they were ready to declare a truce Friday if an agreement with Ukraine is reached on a political settlement for the mostly Russian-speaking region. The talks in Minsk, capital of Belarus, involve former Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma, Russian ambassador to Ukraine Mikhail Zurabov and leaders of the self-proclaimed "people's republics" in Donetsk and Luhansk, as well as Russia and Europe's OSCE security watchdog.
