Illegal migrants can become a victim of trafficking (video)
Today “Migration’s compass” public awareness campaign was presented by European Center in Armenia at the meeting with journalists within the frames of European Union-Armenia cooperation against the risks of illegal migration. The campaign is implemented within the frames of “Targeted initiative for Armenia” project financed by European Union, and the aim is one- to inform the public about the risks and possible difficulties of illegal migration. Virgini Arto, the director of “Targeted initiative for Armenia” project, says that very often the negative results of illegal migration are underestimated and people don’t know about the legal ways of migration. By using different media tools, “Targeted initiative for Armenia” project aims at making those results more visible for Armenian migrants. OSCE expert on migration issues Davit Tumasyan is sure that illegal migrants go abroad in search of better life, but they encounter with such problems they are unaware. There they don’t have a right for legal job and they are always under the threat of being deported. But according to the words of that speaker, illegal migrants can become victims of abuse and trafficking.
