Fifteen lifers continue hunger strike in Nubarashen prison
Fifteen lifers in Armenia continue their hunger strike in Nubarashen prison demanding to review their cases. Talking to A1+, Gor Ghlechyan,Spokesperson for the Penitentiary Department at Justice Ministry, said the convicts are under the supervision of doctors and do not have any health problems. No more details are provided about the strikers. Earlier in the week, the “Journalists for Human Rights” NGO spread the letter of 40 life-termers who had begun an indefinite hunger strike. In the letter addressed to Serzh Sargsyan, the convicts said that they have lost trust in the relevant authorities, as their inactivity made them take measures of last resort. The prisoners draw the President’s attention to problems which have been ignored for many years and violation of the law by the relevant authorities.
