Who decides petrol price in Armenia? (video)
Petroleum price has decreased by 20 percent in the world in 1.5 month. One barrel costs 88 dollars instead of former 115. The price of petroleum products has also reduced including petrol. But that change isn’t evident in Armenia. “Armenia is unique as always, as that domain is very monopolized in Armenia, there is no rivalry, they decide the price: this price is beneficial to all and it remains the same,”- explains economist Vahagn Khachatryan. According to the data of the Ministry of Finances, two big petrol importing companies in Armenia are “Flesh” and “CPS oil corporation”. These companies have been major importers in Armenia until 2013, contradicts Vahagn Khachatryan, “Today only Russian “Rosneft” implements the import of petroleum products, which is done with the permission of Armenian government. The government doesn’t want to take that monopoly, as it is most likely that there is an agreement with Russian authorities.” Why isn’t petrol price reducing? Retail companies don’t answer our question reasoning that company directors are absent from the city. Drivers aren’t surprised that petrol price remained the same. More in the video
