“We have tried to break the stereotypes connected with theatre” (video)
The staff of Moscow Theatre after Parajanov is still in Yerevan. On October 19 they will perform “Life Can't Be Played Encore” play at Stanislavski Russian Theatre of Yerevan. “It is work full of music, recitation and mystique of Parajanov, which we want to present to the Armenian audience with love,” said Artistic Director of the Theatre Vladimir Gabbe. The reception of the Armenian audience pleasantly surprised the representatives of the theatre. “We didn’t image that the Armenian audience would receive the Russian poetry with such warmth. We were told that the serious audience had decreased, but we were convinced that there is serious, intellectual audience in Armenia. We have decided to perform again with their desire,” highlighted the Artistic Director of the Theatre. Earlier, on September 22, Parajanov Moscow Theatre presented “Armeniada: The Alchemy of Armenia's Dreams” play dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. By the way, the premiere of the play took place in April in Moscow. “The audience was applauding for 20 minutes.” By the way, this year Parajanov Theatre celebrates 20th anniversary of its foundation. “There are round tables in the theatre, Parajanov’s clothes are exhibited. We have tried to break the stereotypes connected with theatre. It was difficult to work in Russia in tough competition, but we were able to do it,” said the Artistic Director.
