Plushenko expects support of the RA Government (video)
“It is not the first time I have been in Armenia, we held two shows in 2008. I have worked with my friend and Producer Ari Zakarian for 20 years, I have many Armenian friends, I sympathize Armenians and I am ready to support the project of opening school of figure skating in Armenia. First of all the support of the Government is needed for it, but I don’t see state approach towards this issue, alas. Appropriate rinks are needed for the development of figure skating and for winter sports in general,” a two-time Olympic champion Evgeni Plushenko arrived in Yerevan on a two-day visit to meet with the journalists. To remind, a few years ago a sports school of figure skating named after Evgeni Plushenko must have been opened at Sport and Concert Complex, but the plan wasn’t realized. On November 20 unprecedented ice show in Armenia will be held at Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex, which will be attended by the kings of figure skating, Olympic champions Evgeni Plushenko, Irina Slutskaya, figure skater and acrobat Sergey Yakimenko, whose jump over a car entered into the Guinness Book of Records. By the way, Evgeni Plushenko refused the rumors that he is planning to leave sport because of an injury and said that in all probability he will participate in Olympic Games 2018.
