Lifers restart hunger strike
Today 50 lifers have restarted hunger strike in Nubarashen prison, inform the relatives of the lifers. The lifers started hunger strike on October 12 with the demand to review their cases and sent an application consisting of 10 provisions to Serzh Sargsyan. On October 22 it was informed that the application was addressed to the Ministry of Justice. The Ministry asked for a month in order to give an answer to the application. The prisoners, who were displeased with the answer, temporarily stopped their hunger strike. “One month has already passed and there is no answer. Our sons declared hunger strike in the prison, and we are deciding our future steps,” said mother of one of the lifers. The relatives of the lifers intend to start hunger strike and to hold 24-hour sit-in strikes in front of the buildings of the Government and the Ministry of Justice.
