The personal exhibition of Brazilian Armenian photographer Norayr Shahinyan has opened at Armenian Center for Contemporary Experimental Art (ACCEA). The exhibition is entitled “The power of emptiness”. The photos were taken in Western Armenia. Being an inheritor of a family, which survived the Genocide, Norayr visited the historical homeland and photographed the nature, monuments and people. These photos tell a full story- abandoned houses, destroyed churches, but bright faces, which connect the past and present of Armenian people. A priest’s house in Tvererek, American college in Marash, Armenian church in Musaler, Lake Van and the people complete this parade of photos, which can be truly called “full emptiness”. Editor-in-Chief of “Akos” newspaper Robert Koptash said about Norayr Shahinyan, “In the absence and emptiness of Shahinyan’s photos there is also life and eternity of living.  Emptiness, which remains after the dead and those, who were forcibly exiled. These photos express the power of that emptiness.” The exhibition will be open until March 26. 01 02 03 04 05 06 07
