Recently colorful chicks have appeared in the market and are sold at 1500 drams. There are also colorful ducklings, which cost 2000 drams. Hovhannes Khachatryan has sold 50 chicks during two weeks. The young man doesn’t tell, where he has obtained the chicks from, but he assures that he knows how they become colorful. “It is done in a natural way. The work is done with chicken and egg. They aren’t painted, it is even impossible to paint day old chicks,” he says. “People may buy them as poultry and if the paint contained toxic substances, it will affect person’s health. We don’t know what kind of influence it may have on skin. Do people have a right to do it, do they have a right to use the animal for entertainment purposes?” highlights environmentalist- activist Karine Panosyan.
