Investigators in Yerevan study hoax bomb report at Zvartnots Airport
A criminal case was initiated at the Investigative Department of Yerevan in connection with 'a false report of terrorism.' On March 24, "Zvartnots" Airport received an e-mail message about a possible terrorist attack. In particular, the message said that Flight 558 bound for Moscow at 8:40 p.m. would be blown up. That would be followed by an explosion of the airport. The inspections conducted by competent authorities revealed that it was a false report. The flight was delayed for an hour as security officials were checking the plane for the possible presence of explosives after an apparent anonymous warning. However, no bomb or other explosives were found on the plane or elsewhere at the airport. The criminal case was initiated under Article 259 of the country’s Criminal Code. Investigation is in progress.
