Construction equipment withdrawn from territory of Geghardalich
The construction for sending the waters of the Geghardalich to other communities through gravity-flow irrigation system has been stopped and today the construction equipment has been withdrawn from the territory of Geghardalich and moved to other territory. As the resident of Goght community Vahram Sedrakyan told “A1+”, today they personally have seen the withdrawal of the equipment and decided to stop the action, though every morning they will gather and discuss their plans. To remind, residents of Goght community in Armenia’s Kotayk province yesterday blocked the main road since early morning, demanding to cancel a controversial irrigation project under which the waters of the Geghardalich will be sent to other communities of Kotayk province. Yesterday Goght residents met with Kotayk governor Karapet Guloyan and decided to start discussions on Tuesday. “We will arrange our discussions in the place, where we blocked the road. We are not going to organize discussions in any room or hall,” added Vahram Sedrakyan. At the same time he added that the residents of Goght will not surrender and their demand is the cancellation of the project.
