Residents of Goght open the road (video)
14:45 Artavazd Hakobyan, village headman of Goght, urged the villagers to open the road and promised that the construction activities won’t be resumed near Geghardalich until the final solution to the issue. The villagers demanded to contact Governor of Kotayk marz Karapet Guloyan. The Governor confirmed on phone what the village headman had said. Residents of Goght opened Goght-Yerevan road. 12:09 At the moment the residents of Goght community have again blocked Goght-Geghardavank road. They note that the working group hasn’t arrived in the community in time and they have blocked the road. 11:53 The residents of Goght community of Kotayk marz will wait for the working group until 12:00 in order to organize public discussion. “If they haven’t come by 12:01, we shall again block the road,” Vahram Sedrakyan, resident of the community, told “A1+”. To remind, on June 3 residents of Goght community in Armenia’s Kotayk province blocked the main road since early morning, demanding to cancel a controversial irrigation project under which the waters of the Geghardalich must be sent to Dzoraghbyur, Voghjaberd, Geghadir, Jrvezh and Hatsavan communities of Kotayk province. By the way, the residents also demand so that the public discussion is organized in the street so that everybody can participate.
