Armenia part of “Big Dance” festival (video)

At the initiative and support of the British Council, on June 28 on the open-air platform of Cafesjian Center for the Arts, Sofi Devoyan’s Theatre of Dancer and Soul is joining United Kingdom’s “Big Dance” festival and is presenting the dance staged by renowned choreographer Akram Khan. “Big Dance” festival has been held for already 10th time and united about 42.000 people from 44 countries all over the world. Residents of Latin America, Australia, Africa, the Far East and the USA have learnt the dance specially staged in London and have performed in their countries. Armenia is also joining this movement and presenting Akram Khan’s dance, which is indented for people of different abilities and experiences, but at the same time it gives an opportunity to all the participants to be united and to become an indispensable part of the big movement. “It is a wonderful initiative and we are happy to joint it at the support of the British Council. Everybody can dance irrespective of their age, experience and abilities. Our main goal is to enjoy the pleasure of dancing and be a part of big movement,” says Sofi Devoyan, founder and head of Theatre of Dance and Soul. “It is simply a wonderful feeling to stage a dance and then to see how it is performed in different corners of the world with unique interpretation,” says choreographer Akram Khan. The choreographer, who has been awarded many prizes, founded his dance group in 2000 and toured in different countries all over the world. In 2012 his dance group performed during the opening ceremony of London Olympic Games. The festival was launched in London on May 20 when thousands of Englishmen joined the movement, and presented the dance not only in the capital of the United Kingdom, but also in their communities.
