At today’s Government session, Minister of Transport and Communication Gagik Beglaryan, who had been in Georgia, presented the situation in Lars checkpoint. He noted that still yesterday in the evening the checkpoint started operating in a day regime, “The checkpoint will operate in the same regime for 4-5 days, and then it will pass to round-the-clock regime. Still it is concerning that there is 5 tons of sliding soil in the mountains. At present the local authorities are considering to build an over-ground tunnel on that road, which is connected with large expenses. This road will always be dangerous for us, especially after precipitations. I call on our authorities to take into account ferries, as Lars checkpoint can again be closed at any moment.” “It’s time to think about an alternative road,” reacted Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan.
