Primary school of Gosh has 25 pupils (video)
Though today there are no classes in school, 14-year-old Henzel is near the school. The pupil of the 9th grade of the primary school of Gosh has only three classmates. “We study together with the pupils of the 8th grade, all in all we are 6,” says 14-year-old Henzel. He would like to have more classmates. The classes would be more active, though, studying in a small class has its advantages, “From the one hand it is beneficial, that we are few; teachers manage to ask all of us; those, who haven’t learnt, can be noticed.” The migration of the recent years has had its impact; the primary school of Gosh in Tavush marz has 25 pupils, “Though, I can say, that the number of children is increasing,” says Armine Grigoryan. Due to the non-working day we weren’t able to carry out shootings inside the school. It was apparent from the outside that the school needs reparation. “If there is a sponsor, so that the windows of our school are changed, as winter is close and the children cannot show good results in those conditions, as they can in warm classrooms,” says Shushanik Kocharyan. Henzel dreams of modern equipment in their school, for example, electronic blackboard, “So that we can write not in chalk, but with marker pens. I want the walls to be a little bit beautiful and in good condition, there are few tables, which are in normal condition.” According to the official data, the population in Gosh makes up 1127. Gosh dates back to the 10-11th centuries. Goshavank monastery complex is located here and was one of the large spiritual and cultural centers of medieval Armenia, where numerous valuable manuscripts were created and preserved.
