Police officers didn’t allow Aghavnadzor residents to close interstate highway
At the moment residents of Aghavnadzor are standing on the 128th km of Yerevan-Meghri highway. They had decided to close the highway today but the police officers didn’t allow them to do it. The villagers were demanding to pay off the debts of the grape harvest purveyed last year. Vedi Alco CJSC, which was the main purveyor of this village’s grape harvest, has debts and is unable to pay. The villagers demand from the Government either aid Vedi Alco or freeze the loans of the villagers. Village headman Ashot Sargsyan told “A1+” that the situation remains tense in the village and they have one demand- to get their money. As a sign of protest for already three days, the villagers have closed the community’s schools and kindergarten. The village headman informed that Vayots Dzor Governor Harutyun Sargsyan had visited them and urged them to calm down, as a new PM had been appointed, but the villagers aren’t that much concerned about it.
