Parliamentary elections kick off in Georgia

Today at 8 a.m. parliamentary elections have kicked off in 3645 polling station in Georgia. The Chairman of the Central Electoral Commission Ana Mikeladze said that the elections are proceeding in a calm atmosphere, informs Aliq Media. Outside of the country, 55 polling stations will be operating in Georgian diplomatic missions in 47 cities of 40 states. According to the official data, 3 million 513,884 citizens have a rights to participate in the nationwide elections. 111 local and 55 international organizations have registered in order to carry out observation mission during the elections. The total number of observers is 31 000. At the same time, 42 000 representatives of the political parties are involved in different levels of electoral process. 19 political parties and 6 electoral alliances are taking part in the Georgian parliamentary elections. 816 candidates are struggling for 73 majoritarian mandates. As of 12:00, 5667 people have voted in Ninotsminda. The total number of voters is 24 000.
