There is no cell for hunger-striking inmate
An inmate of the Nubarashen prison who has entered the third day of his hunger strike has not been moved to another cell due to the immense overload of the prison, the Penitentiary Department of the Ministry of Justice told A1+. Narek Sargsyan is under medical supervision. His lawyer, Narek Sargsyan, yesterday said that the prison administration was demonstrating inhuman treatment towards his client by leaving him in the same cell with more than a dozen prisoners who have regular meals. According to the indictment, Narek Sargsyan used violence against bpolice officers who performed their duties during public disorder on July 20, 2016 following the seizure of a Yerevan police compound by the armed Sasna Dzrer group. He allegedly hit them with feet and batons. Citizens Hayk Hovhannisyan, ARman Mkhitaryan and Albert Avagyan face the same charges. The case has been forwarded to the Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan’s Kentron and Nork-Marash administrative districts. The court hearing is slated for November 18.
