“Our economic situation was in this state, when bio-toilets were declared economic strategy” (video)
Suren Karayan, Minister of Economic Development and Investments, isn’t responsible for the current economic situation, noted Naira Zohrabyan, Head of the NA Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) faction, during the discussion of the economic bloc of the state budget at the NA session. According to Mrs. Zohrabyan, Armenian’s economy was also in bad situation before, “Our economic situation was in this state, when bio-toilets were declared economic strategy, our economy was in this situation, when struggle against monopoly and shadow was announced, but we are not able to find monopoly and shadow.” She also noted, “Armenian economy recorded bad indicators, when it was found out that a number of oligarch-ministers have luxury villas in the USA.” Naira Zohrabyan addressed a few questions to Suren Karayan, reminding of the case of the abovementioned Minister, “Don’t you think that he wasn’t Rockefeller’s grandson and he has become a rich oligarch at the expense of country’s recourses? Don’t you think that there will be no progress unless a mechanism of accountability operates in our country?” Suren Karayan, Minister of Economic Development and Investments, answered lawmaker’s question, “Henceforth, if there is a case, when an investor wants to come to Armenia or is operating in Armenia, and if somebody informs us about this, if there is such a case, we are ready to do our best to resolve it. Those approaches will be excluded.”
