Arev and Astghik Makhsudyans, with the instrumental accompaniment of guitar and violin, revive those Armenian folk songs, which are forgotten over time. The siblings chose the name of their band based on well known Armenian film. “We like very much ‘A piece of sky’ Armenian film, and each of our songs is like a piece of sky, that’s why we decided to call it “A piece of sky’,” Arev Makhsudyan told “A1+”. Arev graduated from piano’s department and learnt to play the guitar on her own, and Astghik studied to play the violin at the music school. The only difficulty the sisters faced while forming their group was the combination of the instruments. “When we were forming the band we had a concern that maybe the combination of violin and guitar would fail, as at our music schools the education has classic base and it was something new to combine violin and guitar,” said Astghik Makhsudyan. Makhsudyan sisters have already had a concert at Narekatsi Art Union, and next concerts are planned for next year. Watch details in the video!
