Trump offended by Hamilton cast, demands apology (video)

The US vice-president elect, Mike Pence, was booed by a theater audience when he attended the hit hip-hop musical Hamilton in New York on Friday night – and then had a message about protecting diversity delivered to him from the stage after the curtain call. The musical tells the story of America’s Founding Fathers and the important role immigrants played in the American Revolution. Mobile phone video footage uploaded to YouTube showed the Richard Rodgers Theatre on Broadway receiving Donald Trump’s right-hand man with a chorus of boos as took his seat for the show. Some audience members also reported that the show was paused several times as the audience loudly booed Pence. One of the actors, Brandon Victor Dixon, who plays America’s third vice president in the musical, delivered a speech on behalf of the multicultural and multi-racial cast. “We, sir, are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents, or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights,” Dixon said.
