“Laboratories cooperate with business entities” (video)
Armenian National Association of Consumers is angry at the media’s work. Today at the meeting with journalists, Melita Hakobyan, Chair of the Armenian National Academy of Consumers, noted that recently the media have started studying the food market, conducting experiments in the laboratories and spreading false information. Mrs. Hakobyan didn’t mention the names of those media outlets, which had spread such kind of information; she only stressed that such reports, when the primary consumption products, dairy products, bakery and meat, are subjected to laboratory tests and it turns out that they include bacteria, confuse the consumers. “We are concerned about consumers’ health more than anybody else. We have carried out inspections in about 40 companies of meat, dairy and bakery products and haven’t found any violation. Conclusion of one laboratory inspection shouldn’t be accepted as an absolute truth, or going and buying some crumpled product, take it to examination and state that it is a bad product,” noted Melita Hakobyan. She says the product must pass more than one laboratory testing. “We should have results from three different laboratories; food must be taken from different trade centers and must be encoded, so that the laboratory be unaware of what company’s product is subjected to examination.” Mrs. Hakobyan noted that all the laboratories cooperate with business entities, therefore, it is possible that certain laboratory may have been offended by certain company and may intentionally spread such information.
