Colombia plane crash: 75 feared dead including members of football team (video)
13.47 Police say 75 people were killed, and six survivedas a charter plane carrying 81 people, including 22 players from the Brazilian football club Chapecoense, crashed in Cerro Gordo, Colombia. The plane was carrying the Brazilian side Chapecoense to Medellin airport when it fell from the sky after suffering electrical problems. The jet split in two when it crashed in mountains shortly at around 10pm local time (3am UK time), shortly before it was due to land. Survivors included three members of the team, according to unconfirmed reports. 11.26 A plane with 81 on board, including Brazilian club football team, has crashed at Medellin airport in Colombia, officials say. Reports say the plane, carrying 72 passengers and nine crew, crashed in a mountainous area outside the city shortly before midnight local time (05:00 GMT). Medellin's Mayor Federico Gutierrez said after the crash that it is possible there are survivors. Medellin's airport confirmed that the aircraft, which departed from Bolivia, was transporting the Chapecoense football team from southern Brazil, which was scheduled to play the Copa Sudamerica finals against Atletico Nacional on Wednesday in Colombia's Medellin. The aviation authority also confirmed the presence of the footballers on board. There are five injured passengers at Hospital deLa Ceja, 360 Radio Colombia said on Twitter.
